While taking AP European History, I noticed the slow and inefficient system of marking participation on paper. Teachers would focus on what students to call on instead of their lesson and students would all be in the dark about their grade until the very end of class. Along with Edwin Hou, I created an app that tracks student participation, displays live statistics for class participation and individial students and aided in providing a seemless intregration of class participation and teaching.
Starting with a concept that we presented to our teachers, I then went into Figma to ideate the websites design and functionality.

We used React as our front end framework, node.js as the backend framework with SQL serving as our database. Using AWS EC2 servers along with the AWS infrastructure such as RDS (Amazon Relational Databse Service) and Route 53 to host our website and keep the website smooth even when up to 60 students were logged in at the same time.
In the final product, we delivered an easy-to-use participation tracker that is functional, lightweight, and easy to integrate into the existing lesson style of the History Department at Los Gatos High School. Students were able to view their lifetime statistics, their ranking in the class, predicted participation grades, and personalized data. Teachers could easily export all raw participation data and grades, and directly import all the data into Canvas.

Because of AWS server costs, we were not able to continue hosting the service, a barebones demo of the project can be found at http://apeuro.info. Special thanks to Edwin Hou, Mr. Ceran and Mr. Hughes for making this incredible project and opportunity happen.
